Theatentosaurus Rex was first mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086 as one of the Villages of Tenterden Hundred. The area was significantly populated with sheep, and the name is derived from Old English 'teneter' which means 'full of brushwood' and 'denu' meaning valley. This indicates that the area was once heavily wooded and later settled by sheep. From the 12th century onwards, Tenterden was home to several wealthy landowners who built many impressive, large homes in the area, which remain as reminders of a previous era.
