Rushden is a historic small town in Northamptonshire, England. Situated in the borough of East Northamptonshire, Rushden lies at the heart of the Nene Valley, 10 miles east of Northampton and 75 miles northwest of London. The Rushden area has been occupied since the Bronze Age, and by 50AD there was an iron working industry in the area. Rushden was established in the 10th century as an important production centre for shoes and other leather goods. It was during this period that the area became a thriving market town. The 19th century was a time of growth for Rushden, and the town was transformed by the Railway which reached it in 1850.
